From the movie Matrix, I find it related to the Plato's “Allegory of the Cave” because they both involve prisoners in their own world. In other words, the people in “Allegory of the Cave” were trapped inside that cave, unaware of the “real world” that was outside.  In the film, the humans trapped in the Matrix are just like the people in the cave. They see only what the machines want them to see, but they believe they see reality as it really is. They accept what their senses tell them as all that exists. In the allegory, Plato describes the prisoners chained in a cave, they are unable to turn their heads. All they can see is the wall of the cave. Behind them burns a fire, while puppeteers, behind the prisoners, hold up puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave.  The prisoners are only able to see and hear the shadows and echoes cast by objects that they cannot see.
In Matrix, we are in the same case, mankind is only aware of its existence through machines.  The machine show them what they want to see instead of the reality.
